In Bostancı, Kadıköy, Istanbul, an amateur diver found hundreds of
bullets near the shore and informed the police, who determined that
the Mauser bullets were from Ottoman times.  The bullets were turned
over to the Museums Directorate.

Last week,  amateur diver A.A. noticed some shiny objects as he swam
underwater along the Bostancı shore.  Upon further inspection, he saw
that the bullets had Ottoman writing on them so he took three of them
and showed them to the police.  Maritime police units investigated and
found about 2,000 bullets 7 meters deep at the spot A.A. had pointed to.

Most of the bullets were Mauser-type from the Ottoman era so they
were sent to the Museums Directorate for examination.
