'Bride' Learns 'Hubby' Already Has 4 Wives & 12 Kids

In Trabzon, Pınar T. went to the Registry of Births office to
change her ID card but she learned that, according to the
office's records, she was not married to Erol Ş., the father
of her child (!).  Pınar T. promptly went to Erol Ş.'s workplace,
beat him with a stick and stabbed him with a knife she found
there.

Pınar T. filed a criminal complaint against Erol Ş. and his
friend Hüseyin A., who had prepared a fake marriage
certificate for the couple.  Conversely, Erol Ş. filed a
complaint against Pınar T. for injuring him. 

At their 'wedding' in 2015, Erol Ş. introduced Hüseyin A.
to Pınar hanım as his lawyer and had her sign some documents.
The couple began living together and had a child. In July 2017,
Pınar hanım finally got around to changing her ID card from
'single' to 'married' and went to the Birth Registry office to do
so, only to learn that her marriage had never officially
happened.

It turned out that Erol Ş. already has 4 wives and 12 children (!).
He and Hüseyin A. were charged with counterfeiting official
documents, which carries a jail sentence of from 2 to 5 years.
Pınar T. was charged with simple assault, which calls for a
jail sentence of from 13 months to 5 years.  The prosecutor,
though, indicated that Pınar T.'s sentence could be reduced
because of the 'provocation' that induced her to commit  the
asault.
