Wonder if Canan hanım ever got her bread...
In Ümraniye, Istanbul, the day before yesterday, Canan Ay
and her 10-year-old sister went to the store to buy bread.
But because of the cars parked on the sidewalk (!), the two
had to walk in the street. So when a taxi came by the driver
honked and cursed at them for being in his way.
And just last year he'd won the "Travis Bickle Award"
for most unusual driver.
The driver then blocked Ay's path and began to beat her.
Ay got in the back seat of the taxi and left the door open to
try to prevent the driver from leaving the scene, while she
called the police. But the driver grabbed Ay by her legs,
threw her out of the cab and onto the pavement, before fleeing.
Yesterday, police arrested driver Ş.G. and took him to jail
in Kartal, Istanbul.
