Your mission, should you decide to accept it...
In Kemer, Antalya, three baby hedgehogs were found in a
garbage dumpster on 10 May and taken to the Kemer
Municipality Homeless Animal Temporary Shelter.
Veterinarian Seda Aytekin thought that a street cat might
be willing to nurse the baby hedgehogs but only 'Nazlı'
stepped forward.
Nazlı had recently left her own kittens and, despite the
baby hedgehogs' spikes, has kept them alive by nursing
them. Aytekin explained that "it's not easy for a cat to
nurse hedgehogs because of the spikes and, of course,
cats like to lick their nursing young. Nevertheless, Nazlı
has accepted the baby hedgehogs. Otherwise, they would
have died. Once they get big enough we'll give them food
to grow on and then release them into nature."
